Fact of the day: It was on this day in 1966 that William Eccles died. He had been a British physicist who undertook a considerable amount of pioneering development of radio communication including the ionosphere. He also coined the term "diode" and co-developed the Eccles-Jordan Flip-Flop.

Point to ponder: Michael Faraday who discovered many of the basic foundations of electrical science was the son of a blacksmith and received little formal education.
